How do I locate scholarly books and articles on my topic?

  • Academic Search Complete
    Available by library subscription. All disciplines represented. English language only.
  • Business Source Complete
    Available by library subscription. Includes scholarly journals, but also non-scholarly trade magazines and business news magazines. English language only.
  • Encompass Search
    Encompass Search searches for books and other resources, first in our own library, and then beyond, in other research libraries.
  • Google Books
    Free. Interdisciplinary. Request on interlibrary loan books not available full text.
  • Google Scholar
    Free. Interdisciplinary. Request on interlibrary loan articles not available full text. Spanish and English.
  • WorldCat
    Search catalogs from libraries across the country and around the globe. Items owned by Trexler Library show a Muhlenberg College Library icon. Request items not owned by Trexler Library directly through WorldCat using the ILL (Interlibrary Loan) button. Items generally take 2-10 days to arrive.

How do I perform a statistical analysis of a country?

  • CIA World Factbook
    Free resource. Gives basic demographics of a country, plus overview of political system. Most recent year only.
  • National Statistical Offices
    A directory of statistical offices.
  • World Bank
    Many demographic statistics, especially regarding wealth distribution. Choose the Data by Indicators, then click on the desired topic to get a complete list of countries. Time series.
