Trexler Library has agreements with the following publishers to cover the article processing charge (APC) for most of their journals. Coverage applies to Muhlenberg corresponding authors and covers the full APC fee. Be sure to check publisher details below for the lists of covered titles. Contact Penny Lochner or your librarian liaison with any questions.
American Chemical Society (ACS)
For articles accepted 2023-2025, the article publication charge will be covered for Muhlenberg corresponding authors to publish their article open access in ACS Open Access and Hybrid journals. Co-authors do not pay any fees. Muhlenberg authors that are collaborating with researchers from another organization that does not participate in an ACS Open Access publishing agreement may act as the submitting corresponding author to qualify for this program. Please confirm with the co-authors and reach out to rachelhamelers@muhlenberg.edu or pennylochner@muhlenberg.edu. The current agreement applies to articles accepted Jan. 2023 through Dec. 2025.
Elsevier (New in 2025)
If an article is accepted for publication in an Elsevier Hybrid journal 2025-2027, the open access article publication fee will be covered if a Muhlenberg author is the corresponding author. Additional authors/co-authors would not pay any fees. Muhlenberg's agreement with Elsevier applies to articles accepted Jan. 2025 through Dec. 2027.
Springer, Palgrave Macmillan, Adis, Springer Nature Academic
For articles accepted 2024-2027, the article publication charge will be covered for Muhlenberg corresponding authors to publish their article Open Access in Hybrid journals under these imprints: Springer, Palgrave Macmillan, Adis, and Springer Nature Academic (not Nature Portfolio). The current agreement applies to articles accepted Jan. 2024 through Dec. 2027.
Opportunities exist to publish open access in a journal or book without the burden of paying an article or book chapter processing charge (APC or BPC). Publishers have been experimenting with a variety of alternatives to funding with APCs.
Trexler Library participates (or participated) in the following open access funding models (non-APC/BPC) with the listed publishers.
