Encompass Search finds information by searching through a massive collection of books and scholarly journals, as well as newspapers and magazines, dissertations, conference proceedings, music, video, maps, and more.
While we typically use databases (like PsycINFO) to find journal articles, remember that many databases include citations to (and sometimes full text of) books and book chapters, as well. Check the Finding Articles tab for links to helpful databases!
While scholarly journals are most commonly used in psychology research, scholarly books can be very relevant, as well. Many scholarly books in psychology are actually edited collections of chapters. A chapter in an edited collection can be much like a scholarly journal article; many even go through peer-review before publication.
