Music Research - finding the score

How to locate music scores for research and performance at Trexler Library.

Important search terms

For an effective search for a musical work, it is helpful to know the following pieces of information:

  1. Composer information:
    1. The composer’s [full] name;
    2. The nationality of the composer;
  2. Title information
    1. The title of the work in its original language;
    2. Alternative titles or common names;
    3. The name of a larger work from which a piece comes;
  3. Other information
    1. Numbers associated with the work;
    2. The Key signature of the piece;
    3. Instrumentation (or original instrumentation) of the work;
    4. The score format or edition that you desire.
